Deep Business-Specific ERP Functionality for Discrete Manufacturers Now Available On-Demand
LAS VEGAS (Inforum) - Oct 15, 2008
Infor today announced a software-as-a-service (SaaS) option for Infor ERP SyteLine, providing discrete manufacturers unprecedented choice in how they purchase, deploy and manage their enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. Manufacturers can now acquire the deep business-specific functionality of Infor ERP SyteLine on-demand as a service delivered by Infor. Infor offers an innovative SaaS pricing model, allowing customers to choose a monthly subscription that offers low start-up costs or a traditional license model.
Infor ERP SyteLine allows companies to manufacture, sell and service discrete products with speed and accuracy. The core solution accommodates true mixed mode manufacturing, from repetitive to engineer-to-order, and is used across industries like industrial equipment & machinery, high-tech and electronics, metal fabrication, aerospace and defense, and ship building. It includes an advanced planning engine, automated materials and inventory management, and support for complex product configuration. The solution also provides business intelligence and customer and supplier management features so business managers can tune business processes for efficiency and profitability.
Infor ERP SyteLine is now available to customers in the following options:
On-premises - traditional perpetual licensed software deployed at customer's facilities
SaaS Subscription - subscription-based monthly pricing of $149 per named user per month, managed by Infor in a SaaS (multi-tenant) environment
SaaS Hosted License - same as SaaS Subscription but with a traditional perpetual licensed software pricing model and a $65 per named user per month hosting fee
Unlike vendors that offer only subscription-based pricing, companies that select the SaaS Hosted License option for Infor ERP SyteLine can move seamlessly between SaaS and on-premises deployment, or vice-versa. This provides customers with flexibility to make business decisions about their software deployment, based on their current requirements, without lock-in to a SaaS-only product or costly and time-consuming migrations.
"Infor ERP SyteLine is a proven solution, offering built-in manufacturing experience that enables critical business processes for thousands of companies worldwide," said Kevin Piotrowski, director, Discrete Industry & Product Marketing, Infor. "Through software-as-a-service, this business-specific functionality is now available at a low monthly price and without the need to manage infrastructure or software maintenance. Infor gives customers the freedom to choose the model that is best for them: On-premises, SaaS Hosted License or SaaS Subscription."
Through the addition of SaaS deployment and buying options for Infor ERP SyteLine, manufacturers can choose the model that meets their individual requirements. For instance, some companies need to implement functionality rapidly but at the low initial start-up cost offered through monthly subscription-based pricing. Companies can choose whether their ERP is paid as an operational or capital expense. Companies who prefer traditional licensing but do not have the resources to manage the IT infrastructure and deployment requirements can choose Infor's SaaS Hosted License option. In each scenario, customers acquire the same functionality but select how they want to pay for the software and whether they want to purchase a traditional license or subscribe to the software.
"Another driver of SaaS ERP is the extreme IT staff constraints faced by many organizations. The off-premises deployment model enables software to be implemented and supported with no need for additional staff resources. This model appeals to organizations because it can free up staff to concentrate on more-strategic, value-adding processes," according to an August, 2008 report by Gartner, Inc. In the report, Gartner estimates SaaS will constitute 16.7 percent of the total ERP market by 2011, with small or midsized businesses accounting for 86 percent of adoption and large enterprises making up the remaining 14 percent.
Infor SaaS Hosting Center
Infor's hosting center features a true multi-tenant architecture, where a single instance of the software serves multiple customers, allowing Infor to offer the rich functionality of Infor ERP SyteLine at a lower cost than traditional hosting, which requires separate hardware for each customer. Infor's hosting center follows best practices for security and undergoes annual SAS 70 Type II audits which review the operations and security of the SaaS solutions. Infor has deployed Infor ERP SyteLine SaaS as a high availability solution, employing redundant network, server and storage components. The infrastructure provided by the SAS 70 Type II audited data center contains fully redundant components and backup power generation capability.
"Our expertise in software-as-a-service offerings dates back almost a decade," said Jim Plourde, vice president, SaaS Solutions, Infor. "We are leveraging that experience to offer Infor ERP SyteLine on-demand with a flexible pricing model. Through the economies of scale associated with true multi-tenant SaaS, we can deliver the performance, security and high-availability that are crucial to manufacturing ERP applications."
Currently, Infor offers the core functionality of Infor ERP SyteLine through SaaS, with extended modules and partner solutions to be made available on an ongoing basis. The SaaS option for Infor ERP SyteLine is available through Infor's direct sales force and a network of channel partners. In this initial roll-out, Infor ERP SyteLine SaaS versions are available throughout United States and Canada, with general availability in additional countries to be announced.
