The Dassault Systèmes V6 portfolio of product lifecycle management software is being adopted by Flow International, the developer of ultra-high pressure waterjet cutting technology and machines. Dassault Systèmes develops 3D and PLM software, including CATIA, ENOVIA, SIMULIA and 3DVIA.
Flow International has about 600 people employed in 12 countries. It will deploy V6 to design, analyze, manufacture, document and manage its product line, including complex machines that may contain up to 90,000 parts each. The Dassault Systèmes solutions also will also be used for program management, bill-of-materials management, product data management, supplier workflows, IP management, assembly requirements, field training, reporting, simulation, modeling and purchasing. Idex Solutions, a Dassault Systèmes partner, is implementing these programs for Flow and migrating its legacy assemblies, parts and drawings to V6. Idex also will be integrating ''knowledgeware'' with Flow's designs, to decrease development time.
The V6 portfolio will replace Flow's current licenses of various engineering software solutions. According to Dassault, Flow's managers decided a single source of data would allow them to develop products more quickly, create a closed-loop design to the manufacturing environment, as well as a closed-loop quality management system.
Craig Sunada, Flow's vice president of Global Product Development called the V6 series ''the most innovative thing I've seen in PLM in the past 20 years.
''V6 will enable us to manage our products from concept through their complete lifecycle,'' Sunada predicted.

Flow's field technicians will use 3DLive to pull up large complex assemblies to find specific part numbers to know exactly what they're working on at any given time. Employees offsite are not ordinarily able to access a specific part number - but with 3D visualization if you can see it, you can find it, and that's the beauty of V6.''
