China: Atlas Copco's futuristic vision of a surface drill crawler was presented to the world at Shanghai World Expo. The model on display shows a rig that offers greatly increased productivity, high mobility, silenced operation and environmental friendliness. It is on display for the duration of the World Expo from May 1st to October 31st.
''The Spirit of Innovation'' is the theme of the Swedish contribution at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. And in keeping with this theme, Atlas Copco, an official partner of the Swedish pavilion, has let its futuristic study of tomorrow's surface crawler see the dawn.
Says Mårthen Elgenklöw, Regional Business Manager, Atlas Copco Surface Drilling Equipment: "This is in line with what modern societies will expect from pro-active suppliers in a not too distant future - the ability to be productive, at lengthy hours and in close proximity to urban areas."
During May 5-10, over 5,000 people visited the VIP-floor of the Swedish Pavilion, where Atlas Copco held an exhibition, hosted customer meetings and performed press conferences.
In addition to the Expo activities, Atlas Copco's business area Mining and Construction hosted a conference called 'Carving for a wonderful life together towards the future', for 550 special invited guests in Shanghai.
Says Patrick Ye, Business Line Manager, Atlas Copco Greater China: "It was interesting to see our customer's high expectations on environment, productivity and alternative fuel systems, as we hosted a future concept drill rig design competition between our customers during the conference."
Modern equipment like the ROC T15, which is a flexible and productive construction and dimension stone industry unit, was also put on display and introduced to the Chinese market.
