ATLANTA - Jul 29, 2008 Infor today announced Bentley College of Waltham, Mass. is deploying Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition to monitor and reduce energy consumption throughout its campus.
The solution extends its existing implementation of Infor EAM Enterprise Edition, which monitors the maintenance and repair of the college's assets. Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition will allow Bentley College to manage the energy consumption and emissions of its assets, helping to achieve a substantial cost savings and a more environmentally-responsible approach to campus-wide facilities management.
Bentley College is in the process of gathering data on the energy efficiency of its campus-wide assets, including air handlers, chillers and other large equipment, which will be used to develop a preventative maintenance program that incorporates energy consumption patterns. Unlike maintenance programs that rely simply on pre-determined schedules for asset maintenance, Bentley College's shift to incorporate the energy consumption of assets will help ensure that assets operate at peak energy efficiency, and their lowest operating costs, year round.
''We are aggressively moving forward to become a carbon neutral campus,'' said Kerri Roche, assistant director of sustainability and energy, Bentley College. ''Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition will help us track our energy usage, identify trends and proactively engage operations when energy consumption exceeds thresholds. These practices will help us reduce total consumption, which benefits the environment and cuts our energy bills.''
Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition features the ability to determine the carbon footprint of assets, facilities or entire campuses, based on energy consumption of the collective assets including their energy source, such as coal-powered electric, natural gas or wind-powered utilities. In addition, the solution provides analysis down to individual pieces of equipment to identify the root-cause of excessive energy consumption and inefficiencies. The system provides users real-time alerts based on energy thresholds, which can help organizations identify trends and equipment failures before they occur.
''Bentley College is taking the next step in environmental sustainability -- one that can also result in a substantial cost savings,'' said John Murphy, director of Industry and Product Marketing, Infor EAM. ''Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition helps reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, helping Bentley College make great strides in meeting its financial, operating, and environmental goals.''
An active member of the American College & University President's Climate Commitment and ENERGY STAR, Bentley College selected Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition as part of its plan to become a carbon neutral campus. In addition, Bentley College created a 14 member sustainability task force comprised of faculty, staff and students to develop a campus-wide plan, which includes a recycling program complete with solar powered trash compactors.
Facility-intensive organizations such as Bentley College and asset-intensive organizations across industries are evolving their asset management practice with Infor EAM Asset Sustainability Edition to better manage rising energy costs and environmental concerns.
