Productivity and Interoperability Benefits Drive Leading Chinese Nuclear Design Institute's Decision to Increase Usage of Intergraph's Engineering Design and Enterprise Data Management Solutions
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Nov. 26, 2007 - Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute (SNERDI) has expanded and extended its commitment to Intergraph's SmartPlant® Enterprise solutions and signed a long-term software agreement alliance.
SNERDI, an Intergraph customer since 1997 and one of the leading nuclear power design institutes in China, will use SmartPlant Enterprise plant design solutions to perform detailed designs and enterprise data information management as part of their support for four Westinghouse Electric Company AP1000™ nuclear power plant units being built for the People's Republic of China.
Intergraph's SmartPlant Enterprise offers plant owner/operators and engineering, procurement, and construction companies (EPCs) a full enterprise solution that manages engineering design and data management critical to physical plant assets and integrates engineering with other businesses and operational systems. It is a low-risk, scalable solution that increases productivity through work sharing and reducing plant design errors while improving project execution, handover, operational and maintenance efficiency over the plant life cycle.
SNERDI has a long association with Westinghouse, having produced 3D plant models to support Westinghouse's AP1000 plant design, which is recognized as among the safest and most advanced nuclear power plants on the market today. It is based on standard Westinghouse pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology that has achieved more than 2,500 reactor years of highly successful operation. Modular in design, the AP1000 promotes ready standardization and high construction quality. It is also designed to be economical to construct and maintain, while promoting simplicity and ease of operation.
Gu Guoxing, vice president, SNERDI, said ''The strong growth of our business requires reliable design and engineering data management solutions that improve our productivity significantly so that we can achieve a competitive advantage on the international market. Intergraph's SmartPlant Enterprise suite satisfies this demand because it provides leading technology coupled with strong local and international support to achieve optimized benefits from our investment.''
Gerhard Sallinger, president, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine, said ''We appreciate the long term commitment from industry leaders like SNERDI. Intergraph remains committed to continue improving our nuclear power customers' productivity by providing the industry's only full range of integrated design, engineering, material and information management solutions.''
