EDA industry revenues grew 11.4 percent in the second quarter to more than $1.4 billion, the EDA Consortium (EDAC) reported on Wednesday (Oct. 31).
EDAC said the industry's four-quarter moving average growth rate, which compares the most recent four quarters with the same period a year ago, stands at 14.6 percent. Revenues for the same quarter a year ago were just over $1.26 billion.
Computer-aided engineering generated the bulk if the industry's quarterly revenues, totaling $538.9 million in the second quarter, up 12.8 percent over the same period in 2006.
Other industry categories and revenues were: IC physical design and verification ($397.2 million, up 15.8 percent) and semiconductor IP ($269.2 million, up 7.1 percent).
While quarterly EDA revenues again grew in North America (13.2 percent) and western Europe (7.9 percent), year-on-year EDA revenues from Japan declined 8.5 percent.
