ATTENDANCE AT SPE'S ANTEC® 2011 JUMPED 31%, REFLECTING IMPROVED ECONOMY AND STRONG GLOBAL DEMAND FOR TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Participants from 42 Countries Attended More than 700 Original Presentations
NEWTOWN, CT, U.S.A., May 13, 2011: Attendance at the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) ANTEC® 2011 totaled 2,023, nearly 31% greater than the 2010 annual technical conference, SPE announced today. The event took place May 1-5 in Boston.
Also greater than 2010 were international attendance and the number of technical presentations, noted Lesley Kyle, SPE director of event management. ''The overall success of ANTEC 2011 reflected the gathering strength of the economy worldwide and continuing demand for the quality technical information that ANTEC provides,'' said Kyle. ''That demand is global. International participants at last week's ANTEC came from 42 countries as various as Australia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.''
ANTEC 2011 included 108 topical sessions comprised of more than 700 presentations, with technical papers consisting of original content reviewed by industry peers. Paper and presentation submissions were up 25% from 2010 levels, and student presentations hit a 10+-year high.
During three of the five days of ANTEC week, a trade show with 84 exhibitors also took place.
''SPE has received consistently positive feedback on technical programming, networking opportunities, and the City of Boston as a venue,'' said Susan Oderwald, executive director of SPE. ''We intend to build on that momentum as we prepare for ANTEC® at NPE2012 which will be held in Orlando, Florida, April 2-4, at the Orange County Convention Center.''
