iMachining, SolidCAM's new and revolutionary machining technology, was presented at two major events in Asia in June.
In DMS 2009, Japan's Design and Manufacturing Solutions Expo held in Tokyo's Big Site June 24-27, iMachining drew the attention of visitors to SolidCAM Japan's booth, including potential customers and milling machine tool manufacturers. Among the well known powerful capabilities of SolidCAM in the full range of 2.5 to 5X machining, iMachining shone in its innovative presence.
True video footage of iMachining in action showed a part with complex geometry that included 5 islands being machined at full depth of cut. The metal removal rates shown, associated with these conditions, have never been seen before.
The video showed piles of uniform chips being produced from smooth and elegant toolpaths. By producing an optimal combination of toolpaths and cutting conditions, iMachining enables higher metal removal rates while prolonging tool life.
iMachining technology was also displayed by MachineTech Co Ltd in their booth representing Haas Automation in InterMold Thailand 2009, held in Bangkok's BITEC exhibition center June 25-28.
Here too, the video footage (shown in the background) was showing a Haas machine cutting through material with high feed rates and large Z steps. The tool's continuous contact with the material showed only a few reposition moves. The video showcasing iMachining's capabilities received acclaim from experts and users.
iMachining will be released to the general public in Q4 2009. You find here a link to an overview and a movie of actual cutting in the iMachining technology.
