Lubrizol Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation (NYSE: LZ) is introducing a new series of Non-Halogen Flame Retardant (NHFR) Estane® Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) grades at the 2009 Chinaplas in Guangzhou, PR China. The new polyester-based TPUs are specially designed for consumer electronic applications that require flexibility, softness and abrasion resistance - attributes for which Estane® TPU is well known.
The new products, Estane A1101 and Estane A1105 TPUs can be used for various cable applications including jacketing, gaming, mobile phone chargers and other electronic applications. Estane A1139 TPU is a molding grade designed for other cable and cable connection applications. All grades carry the non-halogen flame retardant characteristics which mean the cables pass the UL-VW-1 test. The robust flame retardant properties, together with the low temperature flexibility, abrasion and chemical resistance of TPU, makes Estane an ideal replacement to PVC in related products.
