A multi-domain solution using a complete simulation model - Paris, France - May 12, 2009 - ESI Group (ESIN FR0004110310), a pioneer and world-leading supplier of digital simulation software for prototyping and manufacturing processes, announced today the release of Virtual Performance Solution version 2009, a scalable simulation solution based on explicit and implicit solver technologies for all types of virtual product testing.
Virtual Performance Solution 2009 responds to our customers' needs for the functional assessment and design optimization of the virtual prototype prior to physical prototyping or tool assembly. ESI's simulation solution addresses our customers' biggest challenges: increase product diversification, shorten development times, reduce costs, and manage complex simulation scenarios and functional requirements.
Multi-Domain SolutionVirtual Performance Solution 2009 enables designers and engineers to work efficiently on new and innovative designs by assessing the virtual prototype before any physical model is produced. This end-to-end virtual prototyping ensures our customers can meet their performance targets and accelerate time to market.
Using a complete simulation model, independent of numerical solution schemes, Virtual Performance Solution focuses on simplifying, accelerating and automating corresponding CAE processes. It includes applications for impact analysis, structural crash analysis, structural strength and thermal analysis (linear and non-linear static), dynamics (modal analysis), occupant safety, motion and dynamics, within a single user environment for with data and process management. Virtual Performance Solution 2009 is supported by the latest hardware based on multi-core processor units and its Hybrid Solver Technology. This enables to shorten turn around cycles for simulations by using up to 1024 cores for a single job.
High Reliability and Results AccuracyMost industrial products are developed by shared project teams distributed worldwide. Virtual Performance Solution, with its code architecture, implementation strategies and quality testing procedures is well designed to ensure reliable and accurate results independent of computer platforms. It enables customers to set-up their CAE workflow on the latest algorithms and materials.
''Using Virtual Performance Solution, we were able to meet the targeted performance in our design. We had very accurate results especially in the assessment of structural failure scenarios in crash conditions using ESI-Wilkins-Kamoulakos (EWK) damage and rupture model,'' declared Kazuhiro OBAYASHI, Integrated CAE Department Manager at NISSAN MOTOR CO. LTD. ''ESI Group supports our product innovation by offering an all-inclusive scalable simulation solution: Virtual Performance Solution allows cost and time savings in our Product Development Cycle,'' he continued.
Towards Realistic SimulationVirtual Performance Solution 2009 offers interfaces to chain ESI's Virtual Manufacturing solutions and third party products for stamped, casted and welded parts. It also enables the chaining of performance analysis and composite parts manufacturing after resin injection/infusion and/or forming processes.
''For a realistic and efficient assessment of designs in virtual testing, we have focused on two prerequisites. The first one is the importance of the current geometry data and material properties after manufacturing processes with the appropriate physics and strict quality in solver technology. The second one is the transparency and traceability of workflows and processes to ensure the quality and reliability of CAE results.'' said Peter Ullrich, Product Manager for Virtual Performance Solution. ''The key target of Virtual Performance Solution 2009 was thus to enable multi-domain access using one complete simulation model independent of explicit or implicit solutions schemes, thereby opening up new frontiers in Performance and Innovation for our customers' design optimization .''
Additionally, Virtual Performance Solution 2009 is empowered by an open and collaborative engineering framework, Visual-Environment V5.0 and higher, and draws on ESI's corresponding compute model library.
