The Tübingen-based tool manufacturer is expanding its range of solid carbide high-performance milling cutters
The solid carbide high-performance milling cutters "Tough Guys" from Walter are well established in machining. The high-performance family has grown continuously since its introduction. "The recent high demand has prompted us to expand the range significantly. We have added 130 variants with new diameters and corner radii to the catalogue", explains Helmut Gschrey, product manager for solid carbide and HSS milling cutters at Walter.
Two product groups are available: N 50 for alloyed steels up to 48 HRC, H 50 for hard machining up to 63 HRC. With TiALN coating, deep flute and long cutting edge, the milling cutters are configured for maximum metal removal rates and the highest productivity. The possible applications are extremely varied and include strategies such as helix milling and ramping. For deep contours there are versions with a neck. Apart from general machining and sub contract, the "Tough Guys" are primarily used in tool and mould making or in the aerospace industry.
